How to add a new FAQ question in Genesis Simple FAQs
After you’ve installed and activated the Genesis Simple FAQs plugin…
- Go to Dashboard > Simple FAQs > Add New
- Type your question
- Type your answer
- Select an FAQ category (optional step)
- Click Publish

Please note! FAQ categories are optional.
To add a new FAQ category…
- Go to Dashboard > Simple FAQs > Categories
- Type a name for your new category
- Type a slug, or leave the box blank and WordPress will do this for you
- Type a description explaining what type of FAQs you’ll place in this category
- Click the Add New Category button
How to find the shortcode for a single FAQ question
To find the shortcode for an individual FAQ question…
- Go to Dashboard > Simple FAQs > All FAQs
- Find the Shortcode column
- Copy the shortcode for any individual question
If you paste this shortcode into any post or page on your website, the question will display. If you click the question it will expand to show the answer. Most of the time you won’t want to display individual questions, you’ll want to display all of the FAQ questions you’ve placed in a specific FAQ category.
Finding Category Shortcodes so you can display all FAQ questions you’ve placed in that category
To find any category shortcode…
- Go to Dashboard > Simple FAQs > Categories
- Find the Shortcode column
- Look down the shortcode column to find the specific shortcode you need
If you paste this shortcode into any blog post or page on your site, WordPress will display a list of every FAQ question in that FAQ category.
Extra tip: How do I know which FAQs are in which category?
To list the specific FAQ questions that you’ve placed in a specific category…
- Go to Dashboard > Simple FAQs > Categories
- Find the Count column
- Click the number, that corresponds with the category whose FAQs you want to list
You will then see a list of all of the FAQ questions in that category.
