Adding a slider to Executive Pro theme

Install the plugin

Go to Plugins > Add New

  • Search for Genesis Responsive Slider
  • Click – install now
  • Click the Activate link

Setup the slider

Go to Appearance > Widgets

  • Drag the Genesis – Responsive Slider widget into the Home – Slider widget area

Some important points…

The slider should now work BUT only…

IF – your 3 most recent blog posts have featured images. AND those featured images are1140px wide by 445px high.

Every time you add a new blog post to your site, it will automatically be used in the slider. And one of the old posts will be removed from the slider.

A better way to set up your slider…

  • Make a category called Slider
  • Make 3 blog posts. Assign these 3 posts to Slider category
  • Assign 1140 x 445px featured images to these 3 posts
  • Go to Genesis > Slider Settings and in the By Taxonomy and Terms: drop down choose -Slider

Now your slider will only display the 3 posts you chose. New and old blog posts will not affect your slider.

Go to Plugins > Add New and search for Genesis Responsive Slider
Click the Install Now link to install Genesis Responsive slider on your Executive Pro theme
Click the Activate Plugin link
Go to Appearance > Widgets and drag the Genesis - Responsive Slider widget into the Home- Slider widget area
Make a new category called Slider
Go to Genesis > Slider settings and look for By Taxonomy and Terms. Choose Slider category from the drop-down list
The slider settings should work straight out of the box
If you have problems, try clicking Reset Settings

  • Drag the Genesis – Featured Page widget into the Home – Middle widget area. Do this 3 times
  • Make sure you used Featured Page widgets. Not featured Post widgets

You now have 6 Featured Page widgets that need setting up. Open each widget, one at a time. And…

  • Type a Title:
  • Choose a page from the drop-down list
  • Tick “Show Featured image”
  • Image Size: featured (300×100)
  • Image Alignment: None
  • Do NOT tick Show Page Title tick box
  • Tick Show Page Content
  • Content Character Limit: 140
  • More Text: Red More…
